It plays an important role in providing world class education within the broad sphere of information technology, computer science, computer engineering, telecommunication engineering and architecture engineering. Following are brief description for these academic degrees: Bachelor(Hons) in Information Technology The department of Information Technology offers a program of ten semester's duration with a total of 190 credit hours leading to the B.Sc. (Honors) degree. The curriculum is designed to familiarize the students with the fundamentals of information technology and the business knowledge. It seeks the theoretical and practical training of qualified graduates able to share in the development and progress of the country. The department of Information Technology concerns itself with both pedagogic and community services. It aims to prepare and train information technologist cadre of graduates who are able both to direct the country’s economic units as well as to apply the latest knowledge in information technology to develop appropriate solutions that lead to greater managerial efficiency. To achieve the aforementioned goals, the department of Information Technology takes the responsibility to: Provide students with relevant knowledge in computer applications and management with emphasis in areas related to system analysis and design tailored to the user needs. Introduce students to modern methods in the area of information technology and help students apply their theoretical knowledge of information technology to actual practice through designed training programs. Enhance the student’s ability to absorb contemporary information technology theories and in particular that which deals with the analysis of decision problems. It also familiarizes students with basic economic concepts as well as with means of economic analysis and evaluation. Undertake a graduation project on a practical problem facing a certain state or private agency in the administrative field and the presentation of appropriate solutions that lead to better performance. [ More ] Bachelor(Hons) in Computer Science The Computer Science Program purposes to combine between the academic courses and their practical applications. It prepares students with the necessary academic and professional experiences that enable them to write and practice various computer programs (software). The program also incorporates emphasis on related topics to the computer science field and the environment. The objectives of Computer Science program can be listed as follows: Providing students with the necessary knowledge and skills in designing, and Implementation Software Systems and use of computer systems. The programme aims at meeting the growing needs of the society for graduates in the rapidly developing field of computer science. The programme will have a noticeable multiple effects on community development through its graduate in addition to community outreach benefit through the different training activities set by the Department. The programme also aims to expand the knowledge of students to other interrelated areas such as computer simulations, biometrics applications and expert computerized systems for artificial intelligence and object oriented applications. [ More ] Bachelor (Hons) in Telecom Engineering The rapid progress in the area of electronics and telecommunications has been reflected on all aspects of life and led to anew area of advanced technology. This mandates the creation of national specialists capable of coping with the advancement in this area during the current century, and contributing positively to the solution of problems hindering the optimum use of such technologies in different areas. In response to the urgent needs for qualified personnel in the field of telecommunication engineering to cope with the rapid advancements in this field, Computer Man College found it necessary to introduce a new degree in telecommunication engineering. The graduates of this program are expected to serve the Sudanese community and the neighboring Arab and African Region. The programme extends over 10 semesters and leads to a B.Sc. (Honors). During the preparation of this program the college has made use of the experience and curricula of some foreign and Sudanese Universities e.g. Boston and California Universities – Sheffield and Heathers field – Damascus and Allepo Universities – the Arab Academy – Khartoum and Sudan Universities. The college also consulted with a member of academicians specialized in the field of electronic engineering and telecommunication technology together with the external examiners and visiting professors. The objectives of this program can be mentioned in the following order: To provide the students with the necessary knowledge and skills in dealing with the various applications in the field of telecommunications and their developments. Offering expert opinions and consultations in the field of communication skills to the community. The course is designed to enable the students to contribute the solution of problem hindering the optimum use of telecommunication technologies in different areas. [ More ] Bachelor (Hons) in Computer Engineering The Computer Engineering department aims to graduate student with B.Sc., degree (honor) specialized, in computer engineering. The student has to follow up 10 semesters for graduation. Theoretical and practical aspects of subjects related to the computer engineering have to be studied to obtain high skills of software and hardware computing engineering as well as in electronics circuit design and electrical theory, feedback and control systems, etc. (students have to have a wide knowledge of 81 courses/224 credit hours/22 credit hours/semester). Also, the department is willing to do research in the area of electrical-electronic computer-aided design and computer aided manufacturing engineering to serve the society of Sudan to develop the quality and technology of the current establishments. Also, the Department offers consultations in many areas such as computing (software and hardware and networks) and for comprehensive design of ac power supply systems, plus full control, for modern factories, and fire alarm systems. [ More ] Bachelor (Hons) in Architecture & Design The scope of work in interior design has expanded tremendously. As the built environment of the present day has grown in complexity and diversity, the realm of the interior has become a profession in its own right. While an interior designer works alongside other consultant such as architects, engineers and construction managers, in many cases today projects are handled independently by a new breed of professionals: interior architects. These are creative professionals who do not only plan and design public, commercial, recreational, institutional and domestic buildings, but are also responsible for and qualified in the management of the implementation of such projects. These projects help Interior Architecture students to develop an understanding of the relationship between architecture, interiors, engineering and project management. Students will also learn to solve pragmatic problems related to interior spaces and build up a sound knowledge of construction as well as technical issues. In summary, the curriculum of the Architecture & Design Engineering uses a digital approach and the programme offers a broad education in professional architectural subjects. An emphasis on the solving of actual theoretical problems enhances the knowledge and skills that link understanding to experience, theory to practice and art to science in ways that directly respond to human needs, aspirations and sensibilities. Through its consortium of architects, interior designers, engineers, quantity surveyors and lecturers, the faculty aims to provide a service to society and the profession by enhancing the state-of-the-art in architectural design, technology and the urban environment making use of the college capacity of computer-oriented digital approaches.
